Kate Ray is a NYU student who has done extensive research regarding the semantic web. The outcome is presented in this 14 minute long video where she interviews researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators.
The Semantic Web is all about the huge amount of data with the context and relationships behind and between those data. Just think of it as a human being that has a lot of intelligence between his/her ears. Sorting, understanding, filtering, structuring, aggregating and the technology used for doing all this is going to change the way we see and use the Internet and, implicitly, its effects on our lives. There’s already a significant shift in the way we communicate and I believe it’s a matter of time till the moment the open web (Facebook has already made a huge step there) will take over. If you’re interested in following this topic I recommend you subscribe to Semantic Web.
More than that, while doing some digging, I ran into an interesting video about the History of Information. David Siegel is the author of this video where he emphasizes on 2 key factors in the future of the internet: pull and the semantic web. Take a look at his presentation video. You might want to make some changes.
