Money, News si Information sunt niste substantive putin mai speciale in limba engleza (raportat la romana).
1. Money reprezinta singularul (Do you have money for lunch? She earns good money). Am vazut destul de des greseala Money are si din acest motiv am decis sa scriu si acest post. Deci, Money e singularul si se foloseste foarte des, iar Moneys sau Monies e pluralul si se foloseste destul de rar. O situatie in care e corect sa folosim pluralul Monies este atunci cand ne referim la sume de bani, mai ales cand stim originea acestora. Exemplu: state education monies.
2. News, la fel ca si Money, cere tot timpul singularul. La origine, news e de fapt pluralul lui new (sec. XV) si poate avea urmatoarele intelesuri: recent information, current events, program, somebody or something interesting, something previously unknown. Cateva exemple: No News is good news. I phoned the hospital, and the news is good. She has been in the news a lot lately. Daca vreti sa va referiti la News ca la mai multe Stiri atunci puteti merge pe calea: News stories are presented every evening at 9.
3. Information e si el tot timpul singular. Corect e Information is si nu Information are/Informations are. Cateva propozitii cu Information: Write each piece of information you have to remember. The bulletin is giving the latest information about the trial. The information on the site is being subject for renewal. Additional information will be posted at a later stage.
