Winter is getting closer and closer and warm beverages become a need for our body. Among many other drinking habits, Romanians enjoy warm cups of hot wine during the winter season, and not only. Unfortunately, here in Bulgaria, this habit is not quite popular. So far I haven’t found any place where I can get a cup of hot wine. More than that, Bulgarians seem to be surprised when I ask about such things.
Since I like it very much, and Cristi helped me make some last night, I decided to share with you the secrets of making hot wine.
What you need:
the Wine (preferably red, white also works), sugar, one orange/apple, pepper, and cinnamon.
How to do it:
Put the wine in a pot and start warming it up. During this time you can wash the orange/apple and cut it in small pieces. While the wine is boiling (or just getting to the boiling point) add the sugar, the small pieces of orange/apple, and some cinnamon/pepper (not too much of the latter). Stir after you add the sugar and, 1 minute later, the whole process should be done. Wait a bit so the wine reaches a drinkable temperature and say Cheers/Noroc/Nazdrave
Enjoy!
P.S.: The quality of the wine doesn’t matter much. Usually I buy one of the cheapest and the hot wine turns out to be great.
